Venezuela Merida   Location Merida is a safe, vibrant Andean city in Venezuela. Thousands of foreign, and native visitors come to this Andean paradise in western Venezuela. Merida is both the historical and modern university-like city. It has the majestic beauty of the surroundings. From the snowed Pico de Bolívar, the highest peak in Venezuela, to the cowboys and extreme wildlife of the Los Llanos. Only by visiting one of the four national parks, 12 state parks, three natural monuments, or 172 glacier lagoons, can you truly say you have experienced Merida. Add to this tasting freshly caught selected trout, coffee only second to Colombia, and buying handicraft in its place of origin and you will truly understand the draw of Merida. The Programs Intensive Spanish Each week there are 20 structured lessons tailored to your ability. 2, 3 and 6 month Travelling Classroom Start Dates: 20th Jan, 15th April, 15 May, 15 June, 15th July, 15 August, 15th Oct The traveling classroom is a unique blend of learning Spanish and traveling adventure. Based in beautiful Venezuela, a country of huge diversity with golden palm fringed beaches, exotic jungles, spectacular and mysterious mountains, ancient indigenous cultures and the beat of exotic Latino! From our bases at one of Venezuela’s best beaches Playa Colorada (the coloured beach!), and Merida (a vibrant, safe, student city) you take adventure travel expeditions while learning Spanish.  There is approx 100 hours (2 months),150 hours (3 months) and 180 hours (6 months) of Spanish classes 1- 4 Week Spanish and Adventure! 20 hours per week of Spanish Language classes from your qualified and experienced teacher. These classes fit around the Adventure activities with choices like: Mountain Biking (Huge down hills!), Canyoning (Adrenaline activity in amazing natural location), Horse riding (stunning country side), Mountain Trekking, waterfall abseiling, sport climbing, water sports (snorkelling, waterskiing, wakeboarding) and Sea kayaking Caribbean islands. 5 and 8 Week Spanish and Volunteer Service 1 or 4 weeks of Studying Spanish (20 hours per week) coupled with an additional 4 weeks of volunteer service work (5 or 8 weeks in total) Four weeks of important Volunteer service. “Street Kids” Fundación Don Bosco (based in Merida) aimed at helping kids from particularly difficult circumstances. Many are street kids – and the aim is to get them off the streets and into a safe supporting environment. Teaching assignments at a Warao Indian school in the Orinoco Delta (based in Orinoco Delta Lodge). This was started up to give the children of the families living in the vicinity of, and working at the lodge, a better chance to integrate into our society, and also to teach them their own Warao culture. Students assist local teachers in the daily activities and lessons. In addition students are expected to help out in the lodge in the evenings. Learn Spanish & Horse Riding First Monday of the month This program combines our Intensive Spanish program outlined above with horse riding from our very own farm 20 minutes outside Merida. Each week there are 20 structured Spanish lessons tailored to your ability - each morning Monday-Friday you will receive 4 hours intensive general Spanish tuition comprising four 45 minute sessions with 15 minute breaks. Then in the afternoons (and at weekends if you like) you take the bus to our farm where Arcadio will guide you across some beautiful routes selected to suit your ability. As you gain familiarity and confidence you will have the opportunity to take horses out on your own as well as joining weekend camping treks to some of the remoter Andean routes.
